2011
Its been awhile since the last post! we have been going hard here at Elusiv planning the year ahead and have plenty installed for you all! We have had a few changed with the ERC and currently have 4 mc’s holding it down- bigg Swift, Hazid, Mr D and P.I.K.
The ERC are currently working on new tracks for their next release as well as working on solo work.
We hope to release bigg swift’s debut album during the second half of the year, followed by a release from the soulful Hazid and a mixtape from the multiple minds of Mr D!
We played our first show in Auckland recently which was a huge success and we can’t wait to get back down for more shows! we have got to give it up to the UTL fam for inviting us down and taking good care of us and all the other underground artists who performed on the night which i will blog about in upcoming posts!
For 2011 we hope to keep on releasing quality positive music that stays true to who we are and where we come from aswell as getting out and playing throughout the country, so stay tuned to see if we are hitting your town later in the year!

THE ERC
We currently have 7 MC’s on our roster who collectively are known as THE ERC. As a group they have been working hard on their first release which is a street album, dropping on the 20th November and we are putting on an all ages release party in Kaitaia on this date.
First off let me say these young men have a huge amount of talent and potential. Before meeting Elusiv most of them had never been in a Studio let alone on a mic! To witness their progress over the last few months has been amazing and to see how much confidence they have gained, not just with music but also generally has made me so proud of these boys.I see the changes within them daily and the desire to want more for themselves and those around them get stronger. They have all come from tough backgrounds and struggles, some worse than others – who have taken that wrong path but now through music they are back on track. As THE ERC we want change for our community and the younger generation! And that is why we make positive inspiring hip hop dealing with issues close to our hearts.
We are a Family unit that gets tighter everyday and we are all excited to see what the future holds for us!
We live and come from a small rural town but we are ready to take on the world!

ELusiv Update
TIme for an update! its been a while since the last post as i have been so busy organising and building The ERC ( Elusiv Records Crew) i havn’t been able to find the time to update everyone on what we have been up to the last few months!
First of we have taken on 5 new MC’s who collectively are know as The ERC. They range in ages from 17 to 23 and all have an amazing talent and huge potential. I met them at a hip hop lyric writing program i was tutoring and since then they have all been writing hard and improving their skills since we met and have shown me their dedication and drive to further themselves within music. But more to come on them later!
Currently we are focused on completing and releasing our first street album which is coming out the 20th November so stay tuned for more info on that! We also are looking at some Summer gigs and other exciting opportunities for the group and will give more details when they are confirmed!

HOMEBREW

Ive been listening to these guys since the release of their EP ” last week” a couple years ago. Since then they have been one of my fav crews and i try to spread the love to anyone who’s never heard them,
What I love about these guys is they are so real and true to themselves and everyone can relate to their music cos they talk the truth, real life music!
Every EP they have put out has been dope and haz kills it on the beats everytime!
If you havn’t heard of them by now you must have been sleeping under a rock!
Check their website through the link to the right.
Shot boys NZ on Air must be kicking themselves for not supporting you!
But as Homebrew have shown us, you don’t need the majors players in the industry to make it, if you have the talent and the drive you can do anything!
PHD
if you havn’t heard them all ready id like to introduce you to the Auckland based hip hop duo the PHD AKA the Potheads crew.
I got to know these guys while working with Easy ( they are part of Easy’s live shows) but had listened to their street albums before i met them.
They are the hardest working crew i know in NZ hip hop and its paying off as they are quickly making a name for themselves outside of the underground scene!
With 5 street albums and a debut album already released , the PHD crew are currently working on their second album to be released later this year, So if you haven’t heard of them yet you definitely will be!
check out their myspace to learn more http://www.myspace.com/phdhiphop
and as a special treat heres a link to a free download of their latest street album.
